How it Works
A simple, reliable way to use your home battery more effectively
Designed to work quietly in the background, without changing how you use energy

- How it works
Your battery. Your home. Your electricity bills.
HighFlow Energy helps homeowners with solar and batteries finally remove electricity bills by using the battery they already own in a smarter way.
Nothing complicated. Nothing manual. Nothing risky.
Start with what matters most: your home comes first
Your battery’s primary job is to power your home.
That never changes.
HighFlow Energy only uses spare battery capacity – energy your household does not need at that moment. Your home’s energy needs are always prioritised, automatically.
- You stay connected to the grid.
- You stay in control of your battery.
- You can leave anytime.
How your battery participates
When your battery has spare capacity, HighFlow Energy may:
- Charge it at optimal times
- Discharge small amounts to support the grid
- Coordinate activity across many homes
This happens automatically and securely.
You don’t need to monitor anything, change your behaviour or manage settings day to day.
What is a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)?
A Virtual Power Plant is simply a network of home batteries working together.
Instead of each battery operating in isolation, HighFlow Energy coordinates many batteries to:
- Store energy when it is plentiful
- Support the grid when energy is needed
Your battery remains physically in your home.
The coordination happens digitally, in the background.
How this removes your electricity bills
The value created by many batteries working together is shared.
HighFlow Energy uses the value generated by the Virtual Power Plant to fund your bill-free electricity allowance.
That allowance covers:
- Daily supply charges
- Electricity usage within your allowance
- Network and distribution charges on that allowance
Your allowance resets each month.
If you use more than your allowance, you simply pay for the extra electricity at standard rates. There are no penalties.
What doesn’t change
Even though your battery is part of a VPP:
- You keep full ownership of your battery
- Your warranty is not affected
- You can leave at any time
- There are no exit or cancellation fees
You will still receive an electricity bill each month.
It may simply be $0.
What you need to get started
To join HighFlow Energy’s Bring Your Own Battery VPP, you need:
- To live in Queensland or New South Wales
- A compatible solar system
- A compatible home battery
- An internet connection for your battery
If you’re unsure whether your system qualifies, we’ll help you check.
