Sizing Guide

Your bill-free electricity allowance depends on the size of your solar system, battery and battery inverter. Each one must meet the minimum for a tier. The smallest of the three sets your tier.

Tier Bill-free allowance (per month) Min. battery (usable) * Min. battery inverter Min. solar system
Tier 500 500 kWh 25 kWh 5 kW 6 kW
Tier 600 600 kWh 28 kWh 6 kW 6 kW
Tier 700 700 kWh 28 kWh 8 kW 8 kW
Tier 800 800 kWh 30 kWh 8 kW 8 kW
Tier 900 900 kWh 40 kWh 10 kW 10 kW
Tier 1000 1,000 kWh 50 kWh 15 kW 12 kW

* All minimums are “or larger”.

Example: a home with 6.6 kW of solar, a 5 kW inverter and a 50 kWh battery qualifies for Tier 500. The battery is big enough for Tier 1000, but the 5 kW inverter sets the tier.

If you joined through one of our installer partners, you may receive a bonus allowance for an initial period. Your welcome letter shows your allowance and when any bonus ends.

Not sure what size your system is?

Your solar, battery and inverter sizes are usually on your installer’s quote or invoice, or in your battery app. You can also run our quick eligibility check and we’ll work out your tier for you.
